In my own Big Bed
We bought this book online about a month ago for Ella to get ready to move to a big girl bed. She loves this book and it is awesome! The little girl looks a lot like Ella, (a major reason why we bought it,) and she goes through all the possible fears a child could have of moving to a big bed and solves each one of them! We have had a twin bed for her since last May, but she hasn't been too interested in it...until NOW. We started reading this book to her and about a week ago we announced we were going to have bed party and the crib is going bye-bye.
She has been so excited for the party all week long. She got to pick out her own night-light with "Dorie" and "Nemo" on it and decide what friends she wanted to sleep with.
Last night, was the moment of truth, we took the crib down when Bob got home form work around 11:30 PM as Ella watched. Aunt Jaylene and Uncle Ethan came over to help us and bourht some big girl toys. Thanks you two. She hugged, kissed, and sang to the crib while it was being taken apart. Then we moved her bed to the same spot her crib was in and did her bedtime routine and finished with reading the book one more time.
We said goodnight, left her room and waited...not a peek! If she was scared, lonely, or fell out she knew exactly what to do.
We went in at different times to check on her this morning and her friend Dora fell out of the bed, but not even half hour later, Dora was back in bed and we never heard Ella.
As of 11 Am this morning, she was still sound asleep in her bed! What a major milestone! We'll keep the crib down for a few months and then hopefully put it back up for James, but only time will tell.
Mommy: "Good Morning, Princess."
Ella: "I need to get clothes on and then I get a candy bar, okay?"
(Note: LOL! We said this a long time ago and she totally remembered...be careful what you bribe your kids with, they'll remember even if it was months ago!)
