James started Preschool and ended Preschool and...will start preschool again.

When Ella turned 6, she "graduated' to no booster, unless we leave the state. Idaho laws:
"Kids 4 to 6 years old need to be in belt positioning booster seats once they’ve outgrown their child safety seats. New law is effective on July 1, 2005. Primary law, $60.00 fine."
The above law has rules for under 1 year, 1-4 years and then 4-6 years. Following that pattern, the next would be "6 years and up", right? The scout leader I work with told me her friend was fined $80 for not having his 8 year old in the seat...but she didn't know if it was in Idaho.
Idaho’s Child Passenger Safety Law will require that all children 6 years of age or younger be properly restrained in an appropriate child safety restraint. This is a primary law, the fine is $79.00. This new law replaces the language of the old law concerning weight and age requirements of children being transported in a motor vehicle. (passed Aug 2011)
Obviously, we weren't the only ones that didn't like the wording....but wait, there's more! If you look around the Idt.Idaho.gov site, it contradicts itself, passsing a law (above) for 6 years and under, and then suggesting kids 8 and under but no law enforcing it, and then back to Click-it or Ticket only 6 years and under...no wonder we are confused in Idaho! Among other things :) The Governor has talked about adding the law, but there doesn't seem to be one, yet.
Thanks fellow bloggers for bringing this to my attention. Ella is back in the travel booster with only slight murmuring :) And James still has the cool "big boy" gray booster below.
So James has her car seat booster and back and loves the freedom of not being so strapped down. He can turn his head and see behind him and loves to remind me how "big" he is. Perfect timing of being "big" with starting preschool. It was a little bit of a joke at first with Ella still in school, I dropped James off, hurried home, picked her up and then ran back to pick James up at the end. Thankfully, that only lasted 3 weeks and Ella was out for the summer. James kept going until the middle of July. His teachers quickly saw how much he loved to march (in his snow boots) to"We are the dinosaurs" and they did the song most every day, just so they could watch him stomp and growl. (That's what his teachers told me anyway.) They always made a point of reminding me it was his favorite song. I think most everyone who has seen us lately also knows this. :)
He is excited to go back in the Fall...I hope the teachers will teach him some new songs, too. Instead of the back-and-forth insanity last time, James will be in the morning class and leave an hour after Ella leaves for first grade. What am I going to do with myself?
I can't believe Ella will be in first grade. All summer, the first grade teachers have met on Tues for one hour and done a "reading club" for the kids to keep up on their skills through the summer! It's been fun to have something to do but mostly to get to know Ella's teacher, Mrs. Gentile. She seems wonderful!
